This post aims to provide comprehensive information about the Certificat de Matriculació, the vehicle registration document in Andorra.

Whether you’ve recently purchased a vehicle in Andorra or are considering relocating to this beautiful country, understanding the ins and outs of car registration is crucial. We will guide you through the entire process, starting with the Certificat de Matriculació, also known as the Permis de Circulació.

In this article, we will delve into the details of this important document, including its format, colour, safety markings, and the institution responsible for issuing it. We’ll ensure you understand what the Certificat de Matriculació looks like, its sections, and the information it contains.

Overview of the Certificat de Matriculació:

The Certificat de Matriculació is the official document that confirms the registration of a vehicle in Andorra. Serving as a vital piece of paperwork, it acts as both proof of ownership and establishes the legal status of the vehicle within the country.

The primary purpose of the Certificat de Matriculació is to validate the registration of a vehicle within the territory of Andorra. This document confirms that the vehicle has undergone the necessary checks and meets the requirements mandated by the local transport authorities.

It showcases compliance with registration regulations and ensures that the vehicle is legally recognised and authorised to be driven on Andorran roads.

Importance in Transactions

The Certificat de Matriculació is needed for various vehicle-related transactions.

The document is a crucial component in transferring ownership when selling or purchasing a registered vehicle in Andorra. Prospective buyers often rely on the validity and accuracy of the certificat de matriculació to assess the vehicle’s background, ensuring they are making a well-informed decision.

Additionally, insurance companies, financial institutions, and other government/legal bodies may require the Certificat de Matriculació when processing claims or providing services related to the registered vehicle.

Format and Appearance: What the Permis de Circulació Looks Like

The Certificat de Matriculació may also be referred to as the Permis de Circulació or even “Carta Groga” by locals due to the yellow colour of the document.

The Carta Groga is divided into 4 sections. It contains a 7-digit registration number in letterpress printing. There is no watermark on the document.

The paper reacts under UV lighting by shining brightly – this is to help prove authenticity. The document is also printed with a protective pattern to help prove authenticity.

Structure and Sections:

The Certificat de Matriculació is divided into several sections, each containing essential information about the vehicle and its owner.

Vehicle Details

This section provides comprehensive information about the registered vehicle. It includes details such as the make, model, year of manufacture, vehicle identification number (VIN), engine specifications, and other information relating to the physical specifications of the vehicle.

Information is also recorded in this section about vehicle emissions, safety certifications, and other relevant information mandated by local authorities.

Owner Information

The Certificat de Matriculació includes a section on the vehicle owner’s information.

This section contains details such as the owner’s name, address, contact information, and potentially other identifying data. It links the vehicle to its rightful owner and facilitates communication or inquiries related to the vehicle’s registration.

Additional Sections

The Carta Groga also contains a title page that clearly shows the name of the document and its purpose.

There is also a section in the document for any official observations. This is for use by government officials.

Institution Responsible for Issuing the Certificat de Matriculació

Importing and registering a vehicle in Andorra depends on obtaining citizenship. The Government of Andorra is responsible for issuing all documentation relating to citizenship within Andorra, including vehicle registration documents and Certificat de Matriculació.
